MicroGDS certified as SXF compatible - December 2006

MicroGDS, the 2D/3D CAD system from Informatix Software International in Cambridge UK, has passed the tests of the Japanese Open Cad Foundation (OCF) for conformance with their SXF standard. Founded in 1998 after an action program by the Japanese ministry of construction, the OCF (www.ocf.or.jp) is highly influential in Japan, carrying out research and education activities and promoting the use of CAD within the construction industry. Members include such well known names as Fujitsu, IBM, Hitachi, and Autodesk. The SXF standard for the exchange of CAD data has its origins in STEP, and is widely used in Japan.

Brave New World - May 2003

The Architects' Journal, 17 April 2003 edition, features ttsp and their use of MicroGDS in an article by Sutherland Lyall. Titled "Brave New World", it explains how ttsp, a 60 strong London practice, have used MicroGDS as the foundation for their CAD system. The importance of good drawing structure is emphasised - "object-based MicroGDS does things better for the practice than AutoCAD which in its basic form is essentially a drafting tool". The ease with which different people can work simultaneously on a MicroGDS model also gets praise.

MicroGDS produces fabulous drawings - September 2001
In the latest issue of the Architects' Journal, Joe Croser reviews MicroGDS 7:

"MicroGDS V7's great strength still lies in its ability to handle huge quantities of data which can be located on a single computer or spread across a wide area network."

"MicroGDS is more than a match for Vector Works in terms of presentation drawing."

"MicroGDS V7 really has matured. The interface is more graphical, more windows-logical and ultimately easier to use. The data structure continues to handle large quantities of information with ease and it has the ability to produce fabulous drawings."

Enjoying the GDS heritage - December 1999
MultiCAD reviews some powerful features in MicroGDS 6:

"Its long standing ability to handle graphic elements as entire objects makes it well placed to survive the now widespread move to object based 3D design.

The other GDS feature that has always stood it apart from most CAD systems is its support for multiple users working on the same project - or Design Teams."

Loaded with unique tools - October 1999
Architech finds MicroGDS 6.0 to be carefully designed for all types of professional users:

"Developed in the UK and much-loved by its users, it offers architects a wonderful range of tools which are designed to work the way you do. The latest release, version 6.0, packs even more punch than ever."

"MicroGDS has a strong track record in the industry and, unlike many other CAD applications, has been designed from the ground up with architects in mind."

"All in all MicroGDS is a solid, well thought through application, and if you are already a user this is an excellent upgrade. If you are new to CAD and need the functionality of the higher end solutions, look at this as well as the other big boys."

The professional touch - September 1999
The September edition of C3 reviews the latest release of MicroGDS:

"MicroGDS has an intelligent cursor, which automatically snaps to corners, mid-points and end points of lines, centres of circles and so on. Delivering immediate gains in productivity"

"The speed of interaction was astonishing; for some tools one click did the job of four in other, more costly applications. The intelligent cursor is a dream too."

"I would love to put it head to head with other applications in a 'click-count' situation, where the winner would be the one needing fewer clicks to do the job. In this aspect alone I am sure that MicroGDS Pro would win hands down."
